IT Junior Business Consultant 



Job Description:

JPI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Junior Business Consultant with at least three years of experience in business process development and re-engineering, including three years project management experience supporting IT Service Management (ITSM) focused projects. This position will work directly with the US Coast Guard (USCG) Chief Information Officer and IT engineering centers to support government business practices, business re-engineering, business process development, business metrics development, facility and workforce planning, communications and marketing planning, and management-related issues to support the USCG mission and ensure programs are delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities Include:  

  • Create Project Management-related strategies and action plans                        
  • Develop and maintain project plans and integrated master schedules                           
  • Draft project status briefings and reports                       
  • Create and maintain project artifacts, including charters, analysis of alternatives, communications action plans, risk management plans, agendas, minutes, and correspondence
  • Use enterprise project management information systems to support ongoing project management efforts                                                             
  • Identify strategies for automating and implementing efficient work management processes               
  • Map complex business processes and communicating solutions to the client
  • Additional activities include participating in program management working sessions and supporting program managers in executing day-to-day project management activities
  • Lead, facilitate, and attend client meetings and exercises
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and provide recommendations for business management improvements

Requirements Include: 

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or business management or a related field
  • MBA, Master's, or PhD degree in business management or a related technical field is a plus                   
  • Management consulting experience required
  • PMP certification preferred
  • ITIL Foundation Certification preferred
  • ITSM experience preferred
  • Understanding of developing project management methodologies (processes, best practices, tools, and templates)                
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills                              
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently and in team settings to include close collaboration with program managers
  • Exposure to CPIC, ITSM, SDLC, SELC and/or SEI CMM principles preferred                
  • Management consulting experience required (within USCG, DHS, or DOD is preferred)
  • Strong organizational management skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and experience in supporting day-to-day operations of a high-visibility program office
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • US Citizen
  • Clearable to Secret
