Job Description

JPI has an immediate opening for an Information Technology (IT) Consultant with four to seven years management consulting experience, and three years direct project management experience. This position will work directly with the US Coast Guard (USCG) Chief Information Officer affiliated organizations to prioritize, plan, and execute IT portfolios and programs to ensure the proper allocation of funding to support the USCG mission and ensure programs are delivered on time and within budget.​​​


  • Create Program Management-related strategies and action plans                         
  • Develop and maintain program plans and integrated master schedules                            
  • Draft project status briefings and reports                        
  • Create and maintain program artifacts, including charters, business cases, concept of operations, analysis of alternatives, communications action plans, risk management plans, agendas, minutes, and correspondence 
  • Use enterprise project management information systems to support ongoing project management efforts                                                             
  • Identify strategies for automating and implementing efficient work management processes                
  • Map complex business processes and communicating solutions to the client
  • Additional activities include participating in program management working sessions and supporting program managers in executing day-to-day project management activities
  • Lead IT Portfolio Management efforts
  • Lead, facilitate, and attend client meetings and exercises, to include IT governance boards
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders from Budget, Enterprise Architecture, and Acquisition functional offices to recommend optimal IT Programs


  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems or a related field
  • MBA or Master’s degree in technical field is a plus                    
  • Management consulting experience required, with at least three years in Program / Project Management
  • PMP certification desired
  • Understanding of developing project management methodologies (processes, best practices, tools, and templates)                 
  • Hands-on experience with MS Project 2010, MS Project Server 2010, and MS Project Web Access;  
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills                               
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently and in team settings to include close collaboration with program managers
  • Proven ability to support multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven process
  • Experience in building and managing client relationships
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Visio
  • Exposure to CPIC, ITIL, SDLC, SELC and/or SEI CMM principles preferred;                       
  • US Coast Guard experience desired;
  • ​Clearance: Clearable to DoD Secret or above​
