Secure Collaboration for an Open World
JPI’s Standard Template System (STS) enables the General Services Administration (GSA) to manage the documents required to produce statements of work and contracts for their Public Buildings Service (PBS). By blending the use of multiple applications, users can create statements of work (SOWs) quickly with the assurance that they are using the current language.
At GSA, STS houses the baseline templates for different kinds of projects, such as design work, engineering projects, and feasibility studies. STS templates contain rules to include elements based on different criteria; STS’s rules enable users to create SOWs based on specific aspects of their projects.
STS embeds instructions for SOWs concerning general modernization projects, projects for constructing and modernizing U.S. courthouses, and projects for land ports of entry. Working with the templates enables a user to easily understand how to complete their SOWs based on STS’s color-coded commands and instructions.
Some of the latest developments in STS usability include new toolbars and icons added to Microsoft Word enabling users to keep the template rules and contents up to date, color-coded XML tags, and tools for easier editing and publishing. STS allows formal check-in and check-out of templates to control change, and provides versions of templates for reference and archiving. Use of STS saves time and money spent to update documents and templates.
