Job Description:

JPI is hiring a Senior Strategic Communications Consultant. A successful candidate should have 10-12 years of progressive communications experience and 3-5 years directly managing client communications. Experience balancing team collaboration, client delivery, and business development is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the thought leader, conducting communications impact assessments and operational analyses to identify optimal communications methods and techniques.
  • Serve as a primary interface between communications support team and client team to include senior USG executives.
  • Work with clients to develop and implement communications strategies and solutions that align with strategic vision and objectives. Drive delivery plans, track milestones, and managed stakeholders to affect change.
  • Create and execute communication plans and corresponding action plans that deliver on strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain program stakeholder and communications opportunity matrices.
  • Develop key messages and content for communications deliverables.
  • Build a working knowledge of communication integration to other areas of consulting support, including change management, program management, and business process engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience to develop new, and maintain existing, internal and external client communications deliverables, including, but not limited to: talking points, fact sheets, briefings and briefing books, online content, internal announcements, brochures, white papers, presentations, and overview documents used at various external client events.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a communications program, overseeing the systematic planning, implementing, and monitoring of multiple project and/or strategic communications plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach a team of communications consultants, driving consistency and competency of skillsets and communication campaign development.
  • Serve as the main point of contract for client engagement and coordination regarding communication consulting, planning, and deliverables.
  • Be able to learn and train communicators on JPI standard communications, processes, tools and templates.
  • Possess a keen understanding of communication best practices, and the relationship to project management, change management, and organizational transformation.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage vendors to produce multimedia products, including but not limited to video, podcasts, and social media products.
  • Experience providing status updates, tracking progress and milestones, and engaging with clients on iteration and final product completion.
  • Perform data analysis as requested to assist with tracking industry trends and metrics for client to include scientific, performance, or cost studies.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, strategize, develop, lead and facilitate client meetings, working sessions, and exercises.
  • Ability to lead and grow client engagement, building strong brand and reputation to meet client needs on time and within scope and budget.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications or a related field.  
  • MBA or MA in Communications (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience managing communications for change management or organizational transformation efforts desired.
  • Experience in strategic communications planning, change management, project management, and management consulting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Client-based, consulting experience is required.
