Job Description:

JPI has an immediate opening for a Data Engineer/Developer with at least 7 years professional experience and consulting experience with the federal government. The successful candidate will have experience implementing enterprise technology solutions across multiple programming languages (including Python and SAS) in a Federal environment and working closely with Government clients. In this role you will balance thought leadership with hands-on development and implementation of a big data platform and provide data analytics services to clients.


  • Build technology to interact with big data platforms and develop sophisticated analyses and analytics for Federal clients
  • Develop scripts to ingest and process data on existing and emerging data platforms
  • Implement database architecture best practices
  • Enhance current products and data platforms, adding new capabilities to better serve clients and address business needs
  • Work with stakeholders to develop user-facing dashboards and other data analytics deliverables
  • Support engineering team by implementing new platform features to address evolving client and business needs
  • Support development and delivery of data-focused services across the enterprise
  • Work directly with Federal clients to understand program objectives, identify data-related technology and process improvement opportunities, and deliver solutions to improve functionality and meet program objectives
  • Examine challenges faced by Federal clients and propose new solutions and products that help to solve problems, improve processes, and address client needs
  • Work with Federal clients to develop proofs of concept for new products and initiatives
  • Assist with requirements definition and traceability
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation


  • At least 7 years of professional experience (or 5 years and a Master's degree)
  • At least 3 years of object-oriented development experience with Python, including experience building frameworks and automating complex workflows
  • At least 3 years of experience in programming with SAS, including experience with Base SAS, SAS Macros, Proc SQL, IML, SAS/STAT, SAS/SQL, and statistical and mathematical models and quantitative SAS functions
  • At least 1 year of web development experience using Django
  • Experience with front-end development, using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and/or AJAX
  • Experience structuring and manipulating databases for Django applications
  • Experience with Linux and Bash
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced, agile and dynamic work environment •
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies like Agile/SCRUM
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently and in large team settings to include close collaboration with program managers;
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to help translate technical concepts to functions clients
  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, information systems or a related field;
  • MBA or master's degree in technical field is a plus;
  • Exposure to Agile, ITIL, SDLC, SELC and CMMI principles;
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Visio and Project;
  • Federal consulting experience required; DHS experience preferred;
  • Clearance: Clearable to DoD Secret or above​
